Flowers on our Minds - Decorating and Gardening Inspiration

On Valentine's Day, we can't help but think of flowers!  Well, and chocolate, of course.  My husband had this lovely bouquet of roses delivered yesterday and I am loving the way they have brightened up the kitchen!

Red Roses for Valentine's Day

During these dreary winter months, it's always so nice to have some color to add to your home.  By now, the Christmas decor is away (let's hope that's true for everyone!) and if you are like me, you have gone through a beginning of the year clear out of your home.  Adding some flowers can really liven things up!

I gathered up a bunch of flower-oriented posts I have written over the years to give you some decorating and gardening inspiration.  After all, spring is right around the corner.  Hooray!

I love decorating with roses but I think I use tulips in my decor even more...

I love using cheerful colors in my home so a couple years ago, I pulled out all my blue and white porcelain and added some sunflowers...

I like using fresh flowers on my mantel too but I haven't done that in awhile.  Our fireplace has been updated since the following post so I really should think about how to decorate the new one...

Now let's take it outside but don't be fooled into thinking I have a green thumb.  I am a total disaster with keeping things alive, yet sometimes I do get lucky...

Irises in Bloom

I can't take all the credit for keeping the outdoor flowers alive since we do have an irrigation system and a landscaper who shows up every couple months...

Actually, as I look through my posts, I have been luckier than I thought...
Petunias in the spring

Since the deer eat almost everything in our yard, we also do a lot of container gardening on the deck...

I am always looking for inspiration so last summer, I spent a day touring gardens in the charming seaside town of Spring Lake, New Jersey.  What a beautiful tour filled with tons of ideas!...

And I will end with a post I wrote a long time ago where I shared some beautiful flowers in the Caribbean.  I think it's time for a vacation...

Happy Valentine's Day!
