Blue and Orange

I recently added some orange to my office shelves...

A Dream Bedroom for Girls

Back in May, I visited the Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and I have no idea why I still haven't shown you all the photos...So here are a few to make you want to go out and hire an interior designer...

As a mother of boys, I crave girly rooms and I absolutely fell in love with this one designed by Houndstooth Interior Design in Oldwick, New Jersey.
Seriously, could this be prettier?  Creamy furniture, grays, whites, pops of bright pink.  A true dream bedroom!  I only wish my iphone pictures could do it justice!
I am obsessed with this mirror and the white against the gray walls.  Now I really want a fireplace in my bedroom.

And what little girl (or big girl) wouldn't love a Lilly Pulitzer inspired closet?  How precious!

If you love the classic style of this room, visit the website of Houndstooth Interior Design to view their beautiful portfolio.  Also be sure to check out the before and after photos of this room on the interactive tour - Mansion in May website.  This is Room #23 on the Second Floor.

Do you know any girls
who would love a bedroom like this?

Lonely Desk and Halloween

So, I spent all day Friday without my computer...

My kids had been using it the night before for school work and someone accidentally upgraded Windows from 8 to 8.1 - which I did not want.  I had heard of problems with 8.1 so I panicked and tried to fix things myself.  Bad decision.

Needless to say, I had to get a professional involved to clean up my mess.  I brought the computer to Staples and they were wonderful getting things cleaned up, downloading a better virus protection making my computer run so much faster!

Now everyone is happy again in Calypso-land!

Especially my little one
who got to attend an awesome Halloween event at school.
I was volunteering so I had to be somewhat dressed up.

I toned it down a bit from previous years...
Actually this picture wasn't even from a Halloween event!
I dress this way all the time...
No, this was from a theme party that I co-chair every year
but it would be a great Halloween costume!
Click HERE for details on this totally awesome ensemble!

And speaking of Halloween costumes,
I pulled this one out the archives...
Yeah, I thought you might need a good laugh today!

Here I am dressed for a Halloween party many years ago.  My friend was dressed the same but since I didn't get her approval, I left her out of the picture!

Anyway, I hope you had a nice week!

Any plans to dress up for Halloween?

Halloween Fun with PicMonkey

Did you happen to notice that PicMonkey
has a some special Halloween themes?
I played around a bit and doctored up a few pictures
using their standard themes and fonts...

Take this picture of me for instance...

I could add a bit of the Comic Book Theme...

Or a disturbing mixture of zombies and vampires.

Something eerie maybe...

Or maybe just "ghostify" my picture!

Or just a silly Halloween greeting!

And if you have PicMonkey's Premium Upgrade,
there are a ton of others to choose from.

Have fun playing around.
It's quite addictive!

Have you tried the Halloween features on PicMonkey yet?

Fall Foyer Vignette

Recently, I stumbled upon a local farm stand
which was selling loads of mini pumpkins.

And I just had to fill up a bag with these gorgeous white ones!

So far, I have used a few in my recent table setting
and now some have moved out to the foyer.

Everything started out all white, brown and gold out here
but on this cloudy day, I added a bit of color to liven things up.

Maybe when it gets sunnier I will change my mind again...

But for now the punch of color seems to work.

And I think the tiered stand is the perfect way
to display the pumpkins.

So this is how the foyer will probably look
until the kids start insisting
I start adding some Halloween decor out here.
After all, this is the place all the tricker-treaters get to see!

Any recent finds inspiring your decor?

Fall Front Porch - Embracing the Colors of the Season!

Although we don't use our front door very often,
I love to decorate the porch for each season.

This fall, I added a ton of color!
Plaid Boots on Fall Front Porch

The boots and sunflowers are basically a prop for the photo shoot.  Not realistic to keep them out there when my crazy golden retriever runs around stealing things all the time.  Plus the boots will get all wet inside with the upcoming weekend forecast...ugh...I guess I will be wearing them!

Front Porch Decor

I never really know what direction I will go in.  In fact, I had planned to use a wheat wreath and some lanterns...but then that never happened.

Mums in black urn for fall
I did make sure I used my black urns though.

I couldn't find a wheat wreath I liked (for a good price) and I don't have the skills to make one myself, so I went with a wreath I bought on sale at the end of the season last year.
Fall Wreath on black door
I love the bright pop of color against the black door!

And speaking of color...
Yellow mums for fall

I took a chance with my not-so-green-thumb and bought some mums that hadn't fully bloomed.  I figured if all goes well (I don't kill them), they will slowly bloom during the month of October and be big and full and colorful for Halloween!

Fall Decorating Ideas for Front Porch
I love the way they look in the urns
and the yellow flowers are really starting to stand out from far away!

Hopefully, the weather will stay chilly for the next few weeks so the pumpkins don't rot and the mums don't droop.  I also have to keep the deer away from those mums.  Crazy country living...

And although the boots were fun to add for pictures,
this is how my porch really looks everyday...
