Water Views

It has been raining for hours.
All I see is water everywhere...
Instead,
I wish I could see this water when I look out the window...
Yes, this was the view out of our window at the Princeville Hotel in Kauai a few years ago.

This is looking out from the room.

Or I would love to see this water view...
This is our balcony overlooking the water at the Hotel Excelsior in Sorrento Italy.

The view looking in the other direction.

Here is the balcony at the Royal Pavilion in Barbados.

The view from Curtain Bluff in Antigua.

Looking out from our room at Point Grace in Turks and Caicos.

Looking out from our dining room at the Regent Palms in Turks and Caicos.

And from the living room.

Looking out from the Frangipani in Anguilla.

View from the Avalon in Grand Cayman.

Now which would I rather see?  This...

Or this?

Are any of these views in your future?

Have a great weekend!

The Search Begins

For Christmas this year, my husband agreed to let me change the tile in my downstairs bathroom and laundry room.  The story on that is - HERE.

Anyway, I have been bringing tile samples home.

Here is gray choice shown in front of the Saybrook Sage green walls in the bathroom.

Here is the tan option.  (Ignore the border below it.)

Now the problem is, the hallway tile has to stay.
You can see it here with the gray piece that separates the two rooms:
This is showing the gray sample.

And here we have the tan sample.

I want the new tile to complement the existing neutral tile without looking like I was trying to match it exactly.  I definitely want some contrast.

I think we have to keep that gray border piece since it separates the rooms and would transition the two different tiles together.  Plus, I don't know what else they could put there.  I had an idea that maybe I could have the tile guy put a strip of smaller tiles there as a border instead to blend the two tiles together.  The only problem is since the border piece sits up higher than the tile now, I am afraid if I remove it, there will be a gap under the door.

Here is a reminder of what the bathroom looks like now.
As you can see the vanity cabinet is oak.
I may paint it white depending on the tile I choose.

I am switching this cream colored toilet to a white one.

The counter tops may or may not change.

And once again, here is the laundry room.
I will be repainting in here.

Remember how "lovely" this tile looked?!!

Anyway, those are my options right now.  I keep flip-flopping back and forth.
In fact, I am flip-flopping all over my house!
It seems like every day I am focusing on
a different project
or a different room.
It's just that I have ideas and then I have to think about them awhile before making a decision.
But in the mean time, I keep myself busy with other projects.
I know, it's a little insane...

Any comments, suggestions?
(Comments on decorating...not the insanity part! - lol!)

Thanks!

Change in Game Plan?

Recently, I ordered 3 Pottery Barn
crown molding ledge shelves
for my dining room.
Here they sit waiting...

See that blank wall?
I thought I would put them there so I could display more plates and fun things.

I feel like it needs something...

But then when I was shopping in Pottery Barn, I saw this vignette...
(Oh Pottery Barn - why does your merchandising have to be so good?!!)

Maybe it would be fun to do something like this?

I love the bar look.

But would it be too much in that room?
I already have a china cabinet nearby and this table...

I can't decide.

I like the crown molding shelves but now I am second guessing.

Should the wall stay blank?
Should I do the bar setup?
Should I stick with my original plan and put up the 3?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

End of Winter Tablescape

The snow is melting!
The temperatures are expected to reach
60 degrees here on Friday!
Here is one last tablescape using subtle winter colors.

Goodbye pinecones...

Goodbye scarf...

Goodbye sun that sets too early...

Soon these browns will be traded in for bright pinks!

Spring is only a month away!
My next tablescape will be full of color!

Thanks again for Susan for hosting!

The Secret is Out

Travel websites will be crashing...
Travel agents' phones will be ringing off the hooks...
Because last night's Bachelor
would make anyone fall in LOVE with the island of
Anguilla!

How can you not book a trip there after seeing last night's episode?!!

The show truly managed to capture the beauty and charm of the island.

I was worried I wouldn't have photos to show you where they were on the show.

Although I didn't have pictures of the Cuisinart Resort, where they stayed, I did have:

Little Bay - where they jumped off the cliff and...

Sandy Island, where Brad and Emily had a romantic date.

Now, if you want to read about my adventures there,  please head over to my post,
(if you haven 't already!)

Is a trip to Anguilla in YOUR future?

There's Hope Yet

So, I was getting out of the shower a few minutes ago
and in the next room all I hear is
"Whoa, cool, look at that, awesome"...
I figured the kids were watching some kind of "manly man" show with my football-loving husband!

Nope, that wasn't the case at all!

Yes, my "DDIY" (Don't Do It Yourself) husband and my two boys were watching Holmes on Holmes on HGTV!

It was hysterical how into the show they all were!  And to think, I used to be annoyed that HGTV didn't have any decorating shows on Sunday mornings.

Thanks HGTV.
There is hope for my guys yet!

Now, could you just lighten up on all the real estate shows for me?!!

Does any one else have a family who recently discovered the DIY shows?
