Traditional Christmas Mantel

This year I went with the traditional, symmetrical
Christmas mantel.

I had the poinsettia wreath hanging around waiting to be used.

And we have our stockings from Lands End
that were given to us by my sister in-law a few years ago.

I had my topiaries and my go-to black candlesticks
waiting to be used.

All I need is some wood in the fireplace.
(And some new fireplace tools!)
Santa told me he is bringing new ones
 for my husband this year!

Originally, I had other plans to decorate my mantel this year
to continue the look I had going in the fall...
To start, I had planned on hanging a wreath
over the mirror I had leaning up there.

But I got nervous
that the weight of the wreath would pull the mirror forward
and I haven't had the chance
to use the proper reinforcements to attach the mirror to the wall.

Plus, who knows what kind of crazy
pulling and grabbing of the stockings
will be going on here on
Christmas morning!

Plus, I am getting quite behind on my
card sending
picking outfits for parties
to get caught up in another project!

So, traditional it is for this year!

  1. Pretty wreath really brightens up the mantle!

  2. I love traditional, but I don't really know what mine is considered? Anyhoo, love the topiaries, that is my favorite! Your mantel is very pretty, and I would love to have a real wood burning fireplace. I'm jealous :)

  3. I agree with Teresa that a real wood fireplace would be divine! Love your mantle and Thanx for coming over to party! Happy holidays!

  4. Hi Shelley! It looks beautiful, I love the wreath! I agree with the weight of the wreath too, I had that happen and it was not pretty.
Have a great week, it sounds like you are busy!

  5. Traditional and I love it. I'm also a sucker for symmetry! Red always speaks to me at Christmas. I use it every year in some way. Happy holiday season!!

  6. I love traditional. That is a beautiful wreath.

  7. I, for one, love traditional! This year I am going for easy too. I remember one year making a huge garland and the whole thing came crashing I think you're smart not to overload things!

  8. You can never go wrong with a traditional look. Your mantel is beautiful. Love what you have done.

  9. I love your traditional mantel display with that gorgeous red wreath! We have similar needlepoint stockings from Land's End that we have had a long time.

  10. Great job! I really like traditional Christmas decorating!

  11. The poinsettia wreath and little trees are my favorite details!! Looks great!!

  12. Beautiful! I love your stockings, they are so pretty.

  13. Where did you get the topiaries? I just love them.

    1. I can't even remember! I think I have had the topiaries for about 10 years! Sorry!
