Re-Styling the Living Room

I woke up in one of those moods to rearrange everything.
I don't know if it's because the kids are back to school
or because autumn is approaching
or just because I was getting tired of the same look.

My living room has looked the same for awhile.
I have been thinking of moving the loveseat to another room.

So, today I did it!
I switched it with my two Pottery Barn seagrass chairs
 from the conservatory.

I also moved a few other things around.
I added a little bit of fall decor.
(Not sure if the cornucopia is staying in here for now)

Here is another angle
The light was great that day,
wasn't it?!!

Maybe I will update this picture later
when the light is a little better!

Another angle,
Now that I see this picture with the red lamp back there,
I am thinking I may move it back to this room.

It does feel a little more open with the chairs.

I like the seagrass against this rug and the wood floor.

I changed things around on this table and added more color.

I like the way you can see out the window
 between the two chairs.
The loveseat blocked too much.

So overall, I think I am happy with the results.

I did start to get a little nervous while I was doing it,
but then I remembered I could always change it back!

So what do you think?

Do you like it the old way with the loveseat,
or with the two seagrass chairs?

Thanks for the feature, Kim!

  1. I love the new look, or coarse the old look was pretty too. I think what I like best about the new look is the "openess" that the two chairs allow for. You have beautiful windows, with a beautiful view that should not be blocked. I say great job!

  2. I think it looks nice both ways.. But being that you have such a beautiful view out your windows, I wouldn't want to block it.

  3. I like the change! I also like that you have a conservatory..reminds me of Clue. :)

  4. I like both!
I also like your tropical palmettos --- every room should have a little or a lot of fresh greens in it.
    Very "calypso" of you!
Your seagrass chairs are wonderful and sit so nicely in front of your arch top bank of windows.
    Nice work!

  5. Very the rattan chairs in there!!! The view out your windows is fabulous!!! Just stunning....

  6. Those chairs are gorgeous! I love the change. And what an amazing room!

PS - thanks for your sweet comments on my blog today! Looking forward to following you now! :)

  9. I love it both ways because I LOVE it when people move their furniture around and try new placements/ideas. Variety is the spice of life! Those seagrass chairs are gorgeous and look wonderful in their new spot!

  10. I'm with the commenter above: I love the fact that you've changed things around. I believe it gives you a new perspective, not only on your house, but on life, to move things around a little! Your house is lovely!

  11. Such a pretty room and both ways are wonderful. I love the seagrass chairs, the texture is fantastic. Beautifully done. Hugs, Marty

  14. This is beautiful as is your home. Love the three paladium windows. Isn't it fun to switch things around? Featuring this at the party tomorrow night.

  15. Both ways are really pretty. I think it is fun to move things around and try new ways with furniture. What a wonderful home you have!

  16. Love the PB chairs and tapestry. The change-up looks great!

  17. I LOVE it with the chairs! I ADORE those chairs! I may have to get some I like them that much! Much better like this (in my humble opinion:):):) XO, Pinky

  18. Although your room was already beautiful but changes are always good... two single chairs gives your room a new fresh look... Room is so airy looking and full of natural light...I love it very much, your new follower too...
I am sharing a treasure of Hand Embroidery, hope you like to come and see some traditional motifs and stitches

  19. Hi! I just found your blog and so glad I did. I like the before look but I love the after arrangement. It is amazing what a little change can do to update and revive a room.
The dark chairs give some weight and ground that side of the room. The whole room is really beautiful. I'll be back to see other changes you might do.------Shannon
