Hampton Homes and Hank

It's that time again...
Yes, it's time to get hooked on "Hank Med"!

The new season of Royal Pains begins
on USA network
at 9:00 p.m.!
I began watching the show when it premiered a couple years ago
because I saw all these gorgeous Hamptons homes in the preview.

I have continued to watch
and LOVE
the show because of the
the characters
and of course the Hampton eye candy
which drew me there in the first place!

Last season's scene between Evan and Paige
was one of the sweetest scenes I have ever seen on TV!

If you are sick of watching reruns
or "faux" reality shows
that pretend they know about the beach,
check this show out!
You will be hooked just like me!

Go on over to the Royal Pains website to find out more,
catch up on some past episodes
or even take a quiz to find your Hamptons' style.

Have you seen Royal Pains yet?

After watching it tonight,
come back and tell me what you think!

Sweet Tea in Southport

Last week, we spent a long weekend visiting family near Southport, North Carolina.  I always enjoy our trips south so I can relax with the family, hear people say "y'all", "Bless your heart" and refer to Iced Tea as "Sweet Tea"...

The weather was hot and humid reaching the high 90's but we spent a lot of time inside and at the pool.  We also walked around Southport.  It is such a charming little southern town!
Southport, NC
I love all the big porches.
Most of them were decorated with rocking chairs.
(So southern ya'll...he he)

The kids loved walking out on the docks to watch people fish.
This fish actually started flipping around on the dock
and almost got away!

The kids loved feeding the seagulls.
(I always enjoy these Alfred Hitchcock moments.)

We had a lovely dinner at a beautiful golf club.

Since we had a large party,
we were able to use the wine room.

Sidenote:  I tried to tour the local Coastal Living Idea House.
But of course it was CLOSED when I arrived!

We did though, get to tour a model for a new "Seaside" development.
The interior was very beachy.

Lots of seaside colors and accents.

Overall, it was a pleasant trip south.  Though, I was not thrilled with the "Dash 8" plane we had to fly in on...Small planes make me nervous.  (Who am I kidding? - ALL planes make me nervous!)  But we had a wonderful time with family and that is all that matters!  (Well that, and we didn't crash!)

Have you planned any family vacations
 this year?

And do you drink
"sweet tea" or "iced tea" where you live?

Soaking Up the Sun Saturday #4

This week's sunny/beach image is
in Lanai, Hawaii.
If you ever get to the Hawaiian Islands,
I highly recommend this perfect resort!
I really need to go back someday!

Are you traveling or staying close to home this weekend?

Painting the $20 Chair

Recently, when I missed out on buying the
 $100 headboard...(yes still regretting it),
I did buy a $20 chair for my son's room.

I knew I would be painting it.

I thought navy would look great but he thought it would look too black.
So, we settled on the color, Deep Royal from Benjamin Moore.
On the paint chip it looked pretty navy to me so I thought it would work.
I usually buy the mini paint samples and try them out,
but this time it was just a chair so I wasn't as concerned.

I was a little nervous when I opened the can
because it didn't look as dark as I wanted it.
  But once I started painting,
I figured I would just go with it.

I even had a little helper.

Now, of course my son caught the painting bug
and wanted to paint everything in sight...

Oh well, the plain terra cotta was boring!

So this is what the chair ended up looking like.

But in the sunlight, it looks much more royal blue than navy
...I guess the name was correct!

But my little sweetie was happy

And that is all that matters!

Believe it or not, the color is supposed to be the one on top.
Maybe I need another coat...

Summer Sun

Happy First Day of Summer Everyone!

Ahh...June 21st
The longest day of the year...
I love how the summer sun
illuminates the front rooms of my house.

The light streams in from every angle.

This is the most perfect time of the year to me.

There is light in places that would stay dark all winter.

I love the late afternoon glow.

After today,
the days start to shorten again.

Enjoy the first day of summer and all the summer light!

And happy winter to all my southern hemisphere friends!

We will be barbequing this evening.
What are your first day of summer plans?

A New Look

Last night on a whim,
I decided to change my blog header
but I couldn't get it quite right.

It's amazing how when the sun comes up with a new day,
you can see things much more clearly.

Before I went to bed my blog looked like this...
It just didn't feel right.
I think I had too much turquoise in there.

It felt very beachy, but almost made the blog look like it was trying to be a travel blog.  I wanted it to reflect a little more of the decorating side.  And since there is absolutely no turquoise in my home, I felt like I had to get rid of that color.

I was happy with the pictures I chose
and made sure I kept the orchid
to keep the blog looking a little bit familiar...
Since I forgot to save a picture of what the blog looked like before,
it was basically the above picture with the words,
Calypso in the Country written across the top.

So this morning, I woke up feeling refreshed,
I toned down the colors from last night,
and now I feel happy with the outcome.

Since I didn't want to spend any money to make changes,
I used
to download and arrange my pictures.
Then I just used what Blogger had to offer in their Design Template
and I was done.

Have you changed your blog header lately?

Today I am linking to:

No More Puddles in the Dining Room

No, we did not have a leaky ceiling.
But we did have curtain panels that have been bothering me forever!

As you can see, they puddled

but not in a good way.
More of a way that says,

"My owner is too cheap to buy custom...
and too lazy to hem them to make them look neat!"

So today I decided to take the easy way out,
fold over the tops, re-clip them

and no more puddles!

I even creased them a little to make them nice and neat.
Although, they will not stay that way long
with 2 boys in the house!

That was one of the easiest tranformations I have ever done!
What took me so long?

Do you have any quick change
and/or "lazy" transformations you would like to share?

I am joining the party at:

Soaking Up the Sun Saturday #2

As I mentioned last Saturday,
I will be posting a sunny/beachy photo
every Saturday from June through August.

Right now it is raining in New Jersey
so it really makes me happy to post this today!
Today we will visit Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda.
The walkway to their amazing beach!

And since I decided to join Pink Saturday over at
How Sweet the Sound,
I added another photo from Little Dix
which has brighter colors and much more PINK in it!
And that water is to die for!
If you need more of an escape,
visit their website for more incredible pictures!

Little Dix Bay

Cheers to your weekend!

Is it sunny where you are today?

It Happened Again!

When will I learn?!!!

The other day I posted about a headboard I saw at a furniture sale for $100!
Yes, $100...

(Click HERE to read that post.)

Look how cute it is..

I asked your advice and EVERYONE said I should buy it IMMEDIATELY!

I don't know why I can be such an idiot.
I should have snatched it up the second I saw it.
Because now it is GONE.

Thanks for all of your advice.  You guys were right and now I am totally regretting the fact that I waited!!!!

When will I learn?

If you want to see how I have been an idiot in the past,
read this post:  Hesitation
Believe me, this is not the first time I have made this mistake...

Please tell me I am not the only one out there with this problem...Actually, I know I am not because some of you wrote me some funny comments last time about this.

Have you have any recent idiot moments like this?
