Last year I tried a new approach to his gifts. I would have shared it with you then but since the whole thing was a surprise, I couldn't take a chance that he would read the blog before Christmas. Because you know, he is regular reader - lol. Actually, he probably doesn't even remember the name of my blog!... Either way, I couldn't take a chance!
On Christmas morning, I handed him an envelope with these cards inside...(without the Calypso in the Country watermark on them of course!)
Ski socks are never that exciting!
But underwear is even less exciting..
Especially when there is a dog theme!
And on the back of each Everything You've Never Wanted card, I wrote a little note to explain the reasoning behind the gift...
Back in the 'old days' we skied without helmets, but now that we have picked up skiing again with the kids, helmets are essential. My husband resisted the first year, but since he now skis with my daredevil 11 year old, I insisted on this gift!
I don't have photos of the rest of the gifts - which he ended up returning anyway! I thought a Kindle would be a great gift for when he travels, but like me, he prefers 'real books'. He also didn't like the flannel pajamas I bought him. He is a sweatpants guy and at this age, was not ready to change. Oh well, I tried.
I also bought him some regular gifts like sweaters, etc..I can't remember them now because they were so boring but he ended up keeping them. At least the theme made it fun and more interesting for someone who is SO difficult to buy for.
Oh and by the way, he got me back when it came to my birthday this year...
I always complain how we never have any lightbulbs in the house...
This case should last me a while!
My husband and his sense of humor...You might recall the Frankenbike Story from a few Mother's Days ago. What am I going to to do with him?!!
So anyway, if you are still trying to decide on what to buy someone for Christmas, go with a silly theme like mine! It's worth a try...and a few laughs! And ironically, the theme made it easier to buy things. I just bought things I thought he should have and I actually enjoyed shopping for him!
Have you ever done any theme gifts?
